Charities

The importance of charity is central to Holy Cross Prep’s ethos; from their first day in school, our pupils are engaged with real world issues, and encouraged to nurture an understanding of the needs of others.

Demonstrably inspired to make positive contributions towards society, our compassionate, enthusiastic pupils are keen to support worthy causes, both at home and abroad. Each year, the girls vote for a new charity to support via a series of interactive fundraising events, including fashion shows, rambles and dance-a-thons, emphasising the importance of ‘fun’ in fundraising. Past chosen charities include Children with Cancer UK, Princess Alice Hospice, Save the Children, Mary’s Meals, Save the Rhino and the NSPCC. We also support CAFOD and Kingston Food Bank (alternating years) as part of the Harvest season, as well as the Chalala Library Project.

Every three years, our dedicated parents’ association, The Friends of Holy Cross (FOHC), also selects a new charity to support, donating 10% of their fundraising during this time. Hugely successful large-scale events include the annual Christmas fair, biennial summer ball, dads’ and daughters’ camp and pre-prep movie night, as well as countless other activities throughout the year – click here to learn more about the FOHC.

Each year the school hosts a coffee morning to support the wonderful work of Macmillan Cancer Support. This popular event is always very well-attended, with hundreds of cakes, brownies and cookies covering every surface! From raffle tickets to donated prize auctions, our school community takes every opportunity to give generously to those less fortunate.
