This week marks the beginning of the season of Advent, a time of waiting and preparation for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. In our assemblies this week, we lit the first two candles of hope and love on our Advent wreath. Lighting a candle each week reminds us of the time, thousands of years ago, when God’s people were waiting for the Messiah, but we also remember that our whole lives are spent waiting and preparing ourselves to meet with Him in Heaven.
In class, the girls have been busy writing Advent promises to think of ways that they can prepare their hearts during Advent and be of service to others, considering how they can be a better daughter, sister or friend. They also worked together to come up with an Advent promise for the whole class to work on, to spread kindness to others during this special time, which is more important than ever this year.
