This week we celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the temple (otherwise known as Candlemas), and explored what it means to be faithful. God is faithful to us, and we can be faithful to God. We can depend on Him to always be there for us. He keeps His promises and His love for us is unchanging.
Just like Simeon, Anna, Mary and Joseph, we too can show faithfulness in our daily lives; it’s the little things that count, such as taking time to say sorry or thank you to God and to others. When we are faithful to God we are rewarded in Heaven and through our friendship with Him.
Simeon declared that Jesus would be a ‘light’ and the Church developed a custom of lighting and blessing candles on this day. We think of Jesus as our guiding light of the world, showing us the way and offering us warmth and comfort in times of darkness.
