On Sunday, we celebrated the Baptism of Our Lord at the River Jordan. We move on from Jesus’ birth at Christmas to His baptismal ‘rebirth’ as an adult, which marked the start of His ministry to spread the Word of God.
Baptism for us (as babies or adults) demonstrates the new life we begin with God as we are adopted into His family and called children of God. At Baptism, just like Jesus, we too receive the Holy Spirit who stays with us in our lives to help us follow God’s ways. We must take time to remember how much God loves each and every one of His children and that his love for us has no boundaries. As children of God, we must share the Good News of God’s love with others by doing good things, just like Jesus taught us to.
How can you be more like a child of God this week and help to carry out Jesus’ mission?
“You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.”
